Vegetables, Herbs and Fruit Trees
Many vegetable and fruit plants such as those that originate from hotter countries grow much better when they are kept under cover. This is due to the extra warmth created under the canopy and the protection it provides from the weather such as frost and heavy rain.
There’s a wide range of different fruits sand vegetables that can be grown under a canopy or veranda, however, here’s just a few ideas:
- Peach & Nectarine trees
- Tomatoes
- Grape vines
- Salad plants i.e. lettuce, radishes and cucumbers
- Herbs
- Chilli peppers
- Strawberries
Of course there are many other plants that your customers can grow or bring on under their canopy, the above are just ideas to give your customers inspiration and to get them started.
It’s important to remember that because the plants will be under a canopy, they will need a little more attention and be watered regularly with a watering can or hose.
A Pleasant Atmosphere
Adding vegetable and fruit plants under a garden canopy also transforms the area underneath introducing beautiful vibrant colours from the fruits, vegetables and flowers and lively foliage from the leaves. This creates a lovely natural feel to your outside area and makes it even more enjoyable to sit under.
